Walks

The walks through the woodlands, which form a backdrop to Woodhall Spa, are very popular with visitors. They are particularly enjoyable when the rhododendrons, which are a renowned feature of the town, are in full bloom.

Ostler's Plantation, which is a couple of miles out of town, has a large area of woodland and open spaces and is greatly enjoyed. Although it is owned by the Forestry Commission it is open to the public. The Commission has provided a large car park which makes for convenient access.

Further afield in Lincolnshire there are miles of public footpaths, bridleways and green lanes, which provide ample opportunities for the walking visitor. The long coastline provides more variety.

For those who like a challenge the Viking Way offers very nearly 150 miles of uninterrupted walking - it can also be enjoyed in bite-sized pieces. The Way runs from Oakham in Rutland, through the heart of Lincolnshire, to the Humber Bridge. On the way it passes through Woodhall Spa on route to the Wolds.
